Advertising your business for free on the web
• Write a blog. A blog, like this one, costs nothing. Sign up with a Google account, and you're off. A blog is all about writing your own publicity. Before the internet, this type of publicity was also free, but it had to be written and published in a newspaper or magazine. Now you can do it yourself. Write a lot. Use keywords, give a link to your website.
• Upload some videos to YouTube. This also costs nothing. If you offer a tree-trimming service, have someone shoot a video the next time that you do some work. It doesn't need a lot of slick editing. And that digital camera you have can make movies, you just need to figure out how to do it. When you write the title and description, use keywords. Have a link to your website in the description. Do several.
• Get involved with forums. Since I am a Macintosh computer "guru", I post on the Apple forums. Find a forum that deals with your business and "attend". Your user name should be the name of your company. My username in several forums is bradhallart, which is my company name.
Marketing, promoting and advertising your business on the web requires you to spend time, dedication and commitment. It doesn't require you to spend a lot of money!
