Reselling public domain material

There is nothing wrong, and certainly nothing illegal, about reselling public domain stories, images, or, well, anything. In fact, many people are happy to pay a nominal amount for the convenience of your supplying something to them that they may have had to spend a lot of time and energy to get *for free*. And, to be fair, you should be rewarded for the hard work it takes to find, prepare, and present public domain material. So don't feel bad about charging something.

But that's as far as it goes. Just because you have found a public domain image, and stamped your website address all over it, does not give you exclusive copyright. Anyone else can use the same image, and if they choose to, sell it, or give it away. Sorry, but that's how it works.

That's why they call it *Public Domain*.
