Getting a digital copy of a movie that will work in iTunes

If you've been frustrated by the digital copy that is included with some blu-ray movies, specially Ultraviolet, don't despair. There are still some current movies that have digital copies that you can play in iTunes. Unfortunately, you have to read the fine print before you buy the movie.

I just purchased "Rango" and it came with a digital copy that does play in iTunes. The important thing is to find the little symbol on the back of the packaging that says, "Works with iTunes".

Unfortunately, not all manufactures are choosing to stay with an iTunes-compatable copy. That is their prerogative, but hopefully there will be enough of a backlash that they will relent. I am told that there are people working on it right now, so hopefully it will happen fairly soon.

I just synced Rango to my video iPod and am gonna go watch it now.
