Keeping an eye on comments to your Google+ page, and your blogs

One of the best things that you can do for your reputation on the web, and for your business, is to create a Google+ page and to have a blog. And one of the dumbest thing you can do is to never go back and look at them.

But since your Google+ page, and Blogger, is tied in to your gmail account, it is easy to keep an eye on things. It's a tab in gmail called "Social". Your regular emails appear as "primary" and are right there in front of you, the comments on your Google+ posts and your blogs, go into social.

Whenever someone makes a comment on your Google+ page, or on your blog, it goes into that tab. No, you don't have to respond to all of them, but you should look out for spam, or nasty language. I have several Google+ pages, and blogs, and if there is something inappropriate, I swat it down fast. I don't respond. I just remove.

If you don't do that, your pages will become infested with spam, useless comments, or worse. And what that says to people that see that is that you are oblivious, and that you don't pay attention. And if that's the message that your company is sending out to the web, you're better off not being on the web.

But with this little trick, you can keep an eye out, and still keep your mind on business!
