Since Google+ updated its interface, in November of 2015, posting has gotten trickier. In an effort to make it easy for you to post onto your various communities from your Home page, Google+ has hidden a drop-down menu, which unfortunately makes it easy to accidentally post in the wrong place.
|Where the hidden menu is, when you begin a post.|
To find it, click on your the little tiny arrow next to your face when you're writing a post. Unfortunately, it defaults to the last community you posted to, so it's easy to mistakenly post in the wrong place if you're not watching carefully, you don't know about the hidden menu, and don't know how to switch it. I'm sure we will see a lot of mistaken posts, in strange place, in the near future! If you have a community, for example about Dachshunds, and are seeing posts that have nothing to do with Dachshunds, that will explain why.
As you can see, I'm in a community that loves dachshunds. But in order for this post to show up correctly, and not on the "Dachshund Lovers of the World" page, I have to change the invisible menu to Public.
To be absolutely, double-dog sure that your posts went to the right place, look next to your name on a post and it should have a description of the community you posted to, as of this writing, it's in green.
I realize that invisible menus are there to save space, but this is just bad design, so hopefully it will change. I'm not a computer programmer, so I don't know how difficult it would be for them, but it seems to me that posts on your Home page should default to Public, not to the last community you visited.
